What does your job entail?

I am responsible for developing and managing Water.org's online presence, community, and partnerships, as well as collaborating with the rest of the team to best connect people to Water.org in dynamic and simple ways. This includes the creative side and social media execution of grassroots fund-raising and campaigns, cause marketing relationships, writing articles or editing and publishing stories from the field for the web site, our monthly enewsletter, managing email inquiries to the organization, publishing our weekly podcast, as well as special projects in line with our strategic plan.

What's one piece of advice you have for current Drury students?

Don't let the state of the economy, your parent's expectations, the supposed expectation that you need to have a full-time job with benefits right out of college, or whatever other fear that lingers, have any say. Don't let these things dictate your decisions. Stop for a second. Enjoy your research and look for something YOU want to do. Think creatively. What if the type of job you want, you aren't seeing anywhere? Be willing to take a nontraditional route to get there. Call someone you respect or want to learn from and ask for an informational interview. Set yourself apart. Immerse yourself in social media (specifically Twitter, LinkedIn, maybe YouTube) – the best leads and connections come from these surprising places. Be willing to work your way up. Volunteer first. Don't be run by anything other than your passion and sharp mind. I feel like Drury did a great job of equipping me, as well as encouraging me. Three years ago, I moved to Kansas City, lived for free with my friend and her parents, got a serving job at a restaurant, and convinced Water.org (then called WaterPartners before merging with Matt Damon's H20 Africa in July 2009) to let me volunteer. Within three months I was part-time with benefits, and within six months I was a full-time employee! I am not saying it will be the same for all of you – it won't. But embrace the challenges that come, your own journey, and go out and offer the world all you have. It is waiting to be enriched by you.

BMV Offering Free Online Driving Records | News - Indiana Public Media

The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is now offering free access to driver records online.

Previously, the BMV charged $4 for people to look at their driver records online, with an eight dollar charge for a certified copy of those records. As of Wednesday, access to those records is now free of charge, and a certified copy is $4.

BMV Deputy Commissioner Dennis Rosebrough says the loss of money is offset by the amount of time the bureau will save by not having to process as many records requests.

“At the end of the day,” he said, “it really was not a monetary consideration, either in the positive or the negative sense. It really was focused on customer service.”

Rosebrough says one of the key features of the online records is the ability to check reinstatement requirements for a driver whose license has been suspended. The records are available online at Bureau of Motor Vehicles .
